Back once again, the 42nd show…

Plenty of new stuff this week and we’re starting with a bit of a cosmic twist courtesy of the Frankie Valentine remix of Torn Sail’s birds – a bit CSNY, but in a really good way…following that with an album track from Incarnations from 2010, I think there’s remixes of this one coming out very soon but for now I thought I’d drop the original (great album by the way)…some slightly more uptempo balearica from Cravo e Canela next, then something of the great new John Talabot album which I’ve been playing pretty heavily – he’s had a really good couple of years methinks…

Keeping it beachside with another track off the Canyons LP from 2011, then a Stones track I picked up on the Balearica 6 12″ – I didn’t know this one, supposedly off Tattoo You with no sign of Keith or Ronnie anywhere. I think it’s Mick, Charlie and some other fellas who were in the studio. Nice stuff though. Follow that with some Charles Stepney-produced Dells, a track of the great new reissue of Wendy Rene stuff on Light in the Attic records, then some more soul from another reissue, this time on Jazzman – People will be People by Gold, a from a great self-titled great album that’s well worth getting…

After that we go beats, new stuff from Georgia Anne Muldrow and Madlib, all about the evils of Monsanto apparently, then nice stuff from Union and one off the new Robert Glasper. Jazz from Portico Quartet follows that before we get into the final stretch with the awesome RSS Disco & Sugarwater (remixed by the one and only Achim Maerz), Luminodisco, the Dixon Dub of Singing by Agoria (kinda hypnotic), and then another off of Julio Bashmore’s recent 12″. Penultimate track is from 1984 but it doesn’t sound like it – James Mason, what a guy. Really top track, called Nightgruv. Finally it’s Dirg Gerner on Ho Tep records – been waiting for this for a while and it doesn’t disappoint.
