Post-party tunes for your ears…

First up, huge thanks to all of you that came from far and wide to the launch party in Den Haag a couple of weeks back – good sounds all round I hope you’ll agree. London, Copenhagen, Hamburg – all in the house and the house was better for it. Ta!

So back we come, with another all over the shop WYWR. Kicking off with the most talked about man of the moment, Frank Ocean – Channel Orange is a pretty marvelous album and well worth some of your pocket money. Scrimshire knocks out a nice edit of Stevie next, and then Echo Park get all kinda modern boogie with ‘Can’t Help It’. After that we’re back in time to the inspirations – George Benson tries to turn your love around, while Frankie Beverley and Maze give us yet another top tune, this time ‘Welcome Home’.

After that we go back to the recent releases with something of the new Passion Pit lp, something from the excellent Porcelain Raft, and then a stormer from the voice of Stereolab, Letitia Sadier. So French, so cool.

WYWR conjures up a quiet storm next, starting with the brilliant (and recently rediscovered from a farm in rural Washington state in the US) Donnie and Joe Emerson, moving through the jaw-dropping cover of ‘Wooden Ships’ by Chris Harwood and then Lani Hall’s brilliant sexy ‘Love Song’. Mmm. Fleetwood Mac (WYWR MVP) see out the storm with ‘Sara’ from the mighty Tusk album.

Balearic alert! A nice 10″ from Ole Smokey hits us next, you’ve got his Adriatic Sun edit of ‘Amarsi Un Po’, an Italian beachfront classic from the late 70s. After that we head into the house n’stuff, with tracks from the new Idjut Boys album and some more 12s I picked up in Manchester last month – good stuff from James Holroyd’s project Begin, the massive Kon edit of Sir OWn, and then, believe it or not, a belter from Cliff Richard. Well, a belter once Cottam has finished with it. More newness from Fil Lavin and Blackdisco, and then a superripe joint from the new Teen Daze album. If you like Washed Out, you’re gonna like that.

To finish: Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edward’s on the production for Diana Ross (the Nile Rodgers autobiog is great, btw) and then Gene Chandler tells us all about his groovy situation. So that’s your lot – enjoy! (and tell everyone, spread the love!)
